Biographical Information

Shawn Anthony This website was created and is maintained by me, Shawn Anthony. I write about faith, spirituality, religion, culture and social issues. I approach these issues from a perspective that can be called progressive (theologically, socially and politically). Ultimately, I would consider myself a Postmodernist, religiously and philosophically.

I really do believe that we all have so much more to learn about divinity, life, love, and relationships. I also believe that a misguided focus upon dogma and doctrine will detrimentally distract us all from the bigger point of our faith and spirituality, which is ultimately love for neighbor, love of the other, love of being and love of Divinity. My writing here explores issues relevant to these and other issues.

I have earned a BA in Theology and an M.Div degree from state accredited academic institutions [Middle States Commission on Higher Education]. I also studied [Koine Greek] for three years during my undergraduate studies, nearly completed a minor in English (three credits short, I think), and served as a TA (Teaching Assistant) in a Biblical Studies Department (New Testament).

Currently I'm taking a much needed break from church service and leadership in Lancaster City, PA. While I'm doing that, I'm constantly writing, reading, learning, and dreaming of the future.

A Necessary Disclaimer

Before we go any further, let's get one thing straight: this is a personal site and the thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own. I am not writing for my employers, and I do not speak on my employer's behalf. My employers can speak for themselves if the need arises, I'm sure.

Code, Web Tools, and Production

I'll spare you the details of how I learned how to use these tools and instead just list them.

I hand code all of my code with [EditPlus]. All of my XHTML, PHP, and CSS is written with EditPlus. I upload my code to my web host [Media Temple] via [Filezilla]. Media Temple is an incredibly reliable host and Filezilla is a wonderful open-source FTP client. I design all of the graphics that appear in the site design with [Adobe] software: [Photoshop] and [Illustrator]. Many of the images that appear in individual posts are stock images taken from places like [Flickr] and [Stock.Xchng]. All of this work is done on a [Dell XPS 630] machine.

The software I use to run this site is [Wordpress]. Wordpress is an open-source blogging and Content Management System. Wordpress is, without doubt, an incredible and powerful self-publishing tool.

A Parting Shot

I own this place. If you are a bitter contrarian that just wants to argue with me here in a sorry attempt to further pad your own thin sense of religious self-security, you will not get very far. I will not publish your comments, at all. You can rail away and waste your otherwise valuable time writing long, caustic comments that will never see the light of day, or you can simply go away and find something more productive to do with yourself. I'd seriously suggest the latter.
